An ophthalmological consultation is an essential medical procedure for assessing eye health, detecting any visual pathologies and ensuring appropriate follow-up throughout life. Consultation procedure
An ophthalmological consultation generally comprises several stages:
Medical examination A detailed history of the patient's ophthalmic and general health, symptoms and the evolution of any visual problems.
Measuring visual acuity Evaluation of distance and near vision, with and without correction.
Slit lamp examination detailed observation of ocular structures (eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, etc.).
Intraocular pressure measurement A key factor in glaucoma screening.
Fundus examination This allows the retina, macula and optic nerve to be visualized, often after pupillary dilatation.
Additional tests (OCT, visual field, retinophotography, corneal topography, etc.) may be carried out as required.
